Support to the Veterinary Sector
„Support to the Veterinary Sector in Montenegro” is EU funded project managed by Europian Union office to Montenegro with main beneficiary “Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs”. Main objective of the project is to improve human and animal health protection and safety of food of animal origin in Montenegro and achieve further compliance with the EU standard in this area..
Project purposes are to strengthen the legislative, institutional and administrative capacities related to animal health, animal welfare, trade in animals and products of animal origin, official controls and animal by-products and to further align and enforce the EU veterinary standards and eradicate certain animal diseases. The scope of the project is wide and ranges from animal health control to food-borne disease management. The project is concerned to realize more than 40 achievements within the 22 planned activities.
Important project issues are divided by the results:
1.National legislation related to animal health and animal welfare, trade in animals and products of animal origin, official controls and animal by-products harmonized with EU acquis for Chapter 12;
2.Capacities of the veterinary services strengthened in order to properly carry out their duties in accordance with the procedures aligned with the EU acquis.;
3.Monitoring and control programs for notifiable diseases affecting Montenegro in place, together with continued implementation of Rabies and CSF control and eradication programmes.;
4.Upgraded system for control of udder health and quality of raw milk;
5.Capacities of AFSVPA strengthened for appropriate control of population of stray and abandoned dogs.
Within each result there are several planned activities for their realization.
